On occasion of the 7th “Italian Day on the Drive” (12/06) event, the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Canada – West promoted the “Valorisation and promotion of authentic Italian agri-food products” project at its own headquarters. This annual appointment celebrates everything Italian, as well as the Italian business community’s contribution to the economic development of the city of Vancouver. Meanwhile, on the 7th, 8th and 16th of June, the “Media Dinner and Dine Italia Week” was held in the city of Vancouver and Calgary, where 50-60 press representatives (journalists, bloggers, TV and radio celebrities) were invited to support a targeted media campaign for Italian PDO/PGI products in collaboration with a network of 15 Italian Hospitality certified restaurants. In groups of 4 or 5 people, the journalists attended a dinner at different restaurants, made with authentic Italian products, and were asked to publish and share information of their experience via their respective media channels. The dinner closed with the presentation of the “Extraordinary Italian Taste” project, its key aspects and objectives, the distribution of promotional material, and a presentation of the recipes and products used by the chef.
