Over 150 enthusiastic Houstonians participated in the first Italian pizza competition, organised by the Italy-America Chamber of Commerce of Texas, as part of the True Italian Taste campaign held at the same time as the international Week of Italian Cuisine in the World.

Six pizza-makers competed against each other offering excellent variations of Neapolitan and Roman pizza, which the participants enjoyed with the excellent GPDO Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore, a gift from the Conegliano Valdobbiadene Consortium.

The winner of the event, held in the Le Notre Culinary School, was the pizza maker Andrea Del Monte with his 006 Pizza Truck. On the podium with him were the Mascalzone restaurant and the Catering Fork company.
