During the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World, the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Canada-West, working with Regione Emilia Romagna, Unioncamere Emilia Romagna, Enoteca Regionale Emilia Romagna, APT Emilia Romagna, Casa Artusi and the Consulate General of Italy in Vancouver, welcomed to Vancouver a trading delegation from the region of Emilia Romagna. The delegation included representatives from major companies in the region’s agrifood sector. The aim was to promote the gastronomy excellences and Italian culinary tradition in Canada.
The 21st November ended with the gala dinner organised as part of the True Italian Taste project. The menu based on traditional dishes and recipes from Emilia Romagna was prepared by the chefs of Casa Artusi, a well-known school of regional cuisine based in Forlimpopoli. The products used - Parmigiano Reggiano PDO [Parmesan cheese], Prosciutto di Parma PDO [Parma ham], Mortadella Bologna PGI [cured meat], Aglio Nero di Voghiera PDO [black garlic], Aceto Balsamico di Modena PGI [balsamic vinegar] - offered by the consortia, were accompanied by a selection of wines chosen by the Enoteca Regionale winehouse.
Leeta Liepins, a journalist, TV presenter and the ambassador for the True Italian Taste project in Vancouver, was the evening’s hostess, sharing with the public the images and videos from her week in Emilia Romagna, where she participated in an educational tour on Italian food.
